Janee Richards
Janee began playing volleyball at the age of eight years. She played for Channel Islands Volleyball Club for ten years as a setter. Janee attended Buena High and played Varsity all four years. She was first team all Channel League her Sophomore, Junior and Senior years. She received numerous awards including: Golden Hands (3 years), MVP (3 years), Most Inspirational (1 year), Scholar Award (2 years), and MVP of the Gold Coast Classic in 1998. She was All Tournament at the Cougar Classic during the years of 1998, 1999 and 2000. During her Senior year she was recognized as Star’s Athlete of the Week and later recognized as one of six All Ventura County Volleyball Players. . Janee played two years at Ventura College under Coach Miki McFadden and earned first team honors and Most Valuable Player of the collegiate Sequoias Tournament. She still holds the record for Career Assists at Ventura College.
After Ventura College, Janee received a scholarship to play at CSU Stanislaus where she played libero and received conference recognition in defensive play and digs. In addition, she is a Grass State Champion in both Women’s Doubles and Coed Doubles. This will be her 8th year coaching for Channel Islands Volleyball Club and she explicates a true passion in coaching her teams. She loves volleyball and continues to play in local grass tournaments, and on county coed traveling teams. She is a graduate of CSU Channel Islands where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. She works at Community Memorial Hospital and lives in Ventura. Janee would like to wish all the teams of Channel Islands Volleyball Club the best of luck this season. She is looking to forward to an exciting and fulfilling year for our club.
