Jacki Richards

Like her older sisters (Janee and Lauren Richards), Jacki began playing volleyball for Channel Islands Volleyball Club at the age of eight. As a sixth grader, she played on the 12-Gold team that earned a “Sweet Sixteen” finish at the Volleyball Festival in 2002. She went on to play two years of 14-1’s as a setter, 1 year of 16-1’s as an Outside/Libero, and three years on the 18-1’s team as a Right Side. She played for Buena High School all four years of high school and graduated in 2008. At Buena she made Junior Varsity as a freshman and played for the Varsity team her next three years. She earned various awards in her high school years including: MVP, Hustle Award, Ace Award(2 times), Best All Around(2 times), Steppin’ Up, the Krista Romero Memorial Perseverance Award, and Top Gun. She was an All-Tournament selection at the Ventura Cougar Classic Tournament in 2007 where her Varsity team was named Champions of the tournament. She was also recognized as an All Channel League Second Team player during her junior year and then an All Channel League First Team player her senior year. She was an All Ventura County First Team player (1 of 6 in the county) during her senior season in 2007. She also earned “Ventura County Top Athlete” recognition as a junior in 2006. She was a co-captain of her Varsity team and club team her junior and senior years. Out of high school she received an academic scholarship and was offered a spot on the volleyball team at nationally ranked California Lutheran University. She is currently a sophomore at CLU where she continues to play volleyball collegiately as a Defensive Specialist/Libero. In her freshmen season, she was the only freshman to be a starter and held her starting position throughout her sophomore season. She is majoring in Liberal Studies/Education, hoping to teach kindergarten or first grade in the future. She coached 12’s for Channel Islands in 2008 and assisted with the 17-Premier team in 2009. She is excited to work with her 16’s team this season and feels very fortunate to be apart of this club.
