The mission and purpose of the Channel Islands Volleyball Club (CIVC) is to provide highly motivated and athletically gifted boys and girls with the training and competition necessary to assist them in achieving their greatest potential as volleyball players, and as preparation for success in the competitive college environment.
The CIVC is a non-profit organization run by a board of directors. CIVC participates in tournaments sponsored by USA Volleyball (USAV). The USAV is responsible for local, regional, national and international volleyball competition of teams ranging from Youth to Golden Masters. The best of the Men and Women’s National team ultimately compete in the Olympics. The USAV has divided the nation into over thirty regions. The Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) governs our region.
CIVC is committed to providing quality physical and psychological training and competition. This competitive athletic experience can enhance social development, contribute to mental and physical health, and teach values of teamwork, responsibility, self-discipline and self-motivation. Our program is dedicated to giving all members the chance to improve the many unique skills found in this sport. We sincerely hope that by teaching basic fundamentals, the CIVC volleyball program will provide a solid foundation, which will enable young people to play volleyball not just in school, but also long into adulthood. This is in keeping with our contention that volleyball is truly a lifetime sport.
